Government forces arrest wanted NPA leader in Laguna

 

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – Joint forces of the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police apprehended an NPA leader wanted for murder in San Pablo, Laguna on Friday, December 22, 2023.

Troops of the 1st Infantry “  “ Battalion assisted the Philippine National Police units of Laguna, Quezon, San Pablo and Kalayaan in a joint law enforcement operation at Barangay San Crispin, San Pablo, Laguna and served a warrant of arrest to Tirzo Buenafe for the crime of murder under criminal case number 8320-G dated July 01, 2009 issued by the presiding judge of Branch 61 Regional Trial Court of Gumaca, Quezon with no bail.  Buenafe alias Boboy Opinaria/Jess if a former Regional Yunit Guerilla Platoon Leader of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee and listed as the Most Wanted Person of the Police Regional Office-4A. 

In a statement, 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said that the arrest of Buenafe manifests the concerted effort of the security sector to bring those responsible for criminal acts to justice.  He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the community and the security forces in the enforcement of the law against criminals and in countering threats posed by communist terrorist groups.  He urged the communities to be vigilant and to come forward with any information that could help neutralize potential dangers and protect the welfare of our fellow Filipinos especially this Yuletide season.
