Government forces seize illegally cut lumbers in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The government troops seized at least 600 board feet of illegally cut lumber during a joint anti-illegal logging operation in Infanta, Quezon on Thursday, September 20, 2023.
In a concerted effort, troops of the 1st Infantry "Always First" Battalion, Infanta PNP, and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office-Real carried out a coordinated operation against illegal logging activities along Marilaque Hi-way in Sitio Tigkay, Barangay Magsaysay and apprehended a single elf truck transporting an estimated 607.79 board feet of high-quality Kamagong lumber, valued at PHP 27,350.00. The operation also resulted in the apprehension of five individuals, all of whom were residents of KM3 in the said barangay.
In a statement, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong underscored the concerted efforts of the government forces in their campaign against illegal logging in the region. He added that it also demonstrated the effectiveness of collaborative initiatives among law enforcement and environmental protection agencies to protect and preserve the country’s invaluable natural resources.
