Joint AFP-PNP operation leads to the apprehension of NPA leader, 2 members in Batangas
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Joint operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police conducted combat operations which led to the apprehension of one NPA leader and 2 other members in Balayan, Batangas on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
Troops of the 59th Infantry "Protector" Battalion, 201st Infantry "Kabalikat" Brigade, Philippine Air Force, Balayan PNP, and Batangas PNP were acting on reports that the Tax Implementing Unit of the Sub-Regional Military Area 4C from the Southern Tagalog Regional Committee at Barangay Calzada in Balayan. This led to the apprehension of Alfred Manalo alias Sayko, the platoon leader of SPP KAWING from the STRPC's SRMA 4C, and two other members who are still being identified. The troops have also seized three hand grenades, three cellular phones, one blasting cap, one shoulder bag, and dummy cash amounting to Php70,000.00.
"We are consistently working with our security sector partners in upholding the rule of the law. We are also grateful for the efforts and cooperation of our kababayans that resulted in the apprehension of these wanted NPA rebels. Relative thereto, we are urging those who are still in arms to return to the folds of the law so as not to suffer the same fate as these rebels," 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
