Large NPA arms cache recovered by Army’s 2ID in Batangas

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The soldiers of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division recovered an extensive arms cache belonging to the New People’s Army in Balayan, Batangas on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Troops from the 59th Infantry “Protector” Battalion conducted focused military operations at Barangay Pooc when they discovered a large arms cache consisting of an M16 rifle, an incomplete garand rifle, 2 pieces Cal.22 rifles, 3 pieces 12-gauge shotguns, 166 pieces of live ammunition cartridges, 3 rounds of rifle grenades, 60 pieces AK47 magazines, and around 1,000m of commercial detonating cord.

The 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong in a statement highlighted the importance of the arms cache recovery, noting that this undoubtedly disrupts the capability of the Communist Terrorist Group to carry out their terror acts.

He added that this development not only enhances the security situation in Batangas but also contributes to the broader efforts of the government to address insurgency and promote development and progress across the province.
