Militia surrenders with firearms and war materiel in Occidental Mindoro
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – A Milisyang Bayan member voluntary surrendered with firearms and other war materiel in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Troops from the 64th Infantry “Kaagapay” Battalion facilitated the voluntary surrender of a Milisyang Bayan member at Barangay Bayotbot in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. Alias Jay/Jojo, is a Milisyang Bayan member, remnants of Platoon GMK of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4D. Alias Jay surrendered one M653 Colt rifle with one short magazine containing 18 rounds ammunition; one Caliber 45 Armscor pistol with one magazine containing 7 rounds ammunition; and one Hand Grenade.
"Together with our partners in the local government and security sector, we remain dedicated in continuing our peace efforts across the provinces of Mindoro. We are calling on the remaining NPA members to heed the government’s call for peace and support our efforts to bring stability and development across Mindoro.”, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. General Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
