NPA and Militia surrender with firearms and war materiel in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal- An NPA and a Milisyang Bayan member surrender with firearms and other war materiel in Lopez, Quezon, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
Joint troops from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion, Quezon PNP, San Francisco PNP and Buenavista PNP provided assistance to the San Francisco and Buenavista Municipal Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and facilitated the surrender of an NPA member from Brgy Ibabang Wasay, Buenavista and a Milisyang Bayan member from Brgy Sto Niño, San Francisco. The Municipal Task Forces-ELCAC are led by its respective mayors, namely: Hon. Mayor Romulo D Edaño Sr of San Francisco and Hon. Mayor Reynaldo Rosilla of Buenavista. Alias Jass is a former Giyang Pampulitiko of Platoon SOL of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4B and surrendered with him one Carbine with one short magazine loaded with 11 rounds ammunition and one Hand Grenade while alias Val is a Milisyang Bayan member under Platoon REYMARK and surrendered with him one homemade Shotgun with 15 rounds ammunition and one Cal .45 pistol with one magazine loaded with 2 ammunitions.
"This influx of surrenders is a clear sign that the leadership of the Communist Terrorist Groups is falling apart. We are seeing our kababayans starting to embrace the various government peace programs. With this, we are calling those who are still in arms to follow their former comrades and heed the call for peace to begin their lives anew with their families,", 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
