NPA leader surrenders in Oriental Mindoro
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A high-ranking NPA leader yielded to government forces in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro on Monday, September 25, 2023.
Troops of the 4th Infantry "Scorpion" Battalion at Barangay Lisap facilitated the surrender of alias Kenjie, the leader of Platun Serna from the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong commended the wise decision of alias Kenjie to abandon the violent ideologies of the NPA and begin his new life with his family in the folds of the law. He then attributed this development to the successful peace efforts of the Local Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, key stakeholders, and the security sector.
