NPA leader surrenders to government in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - An NPA leader surrendered to the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Tagkawayan, Quezon on Friday, September 22, 2023.
The Tagkawayan MTF-ELCAC, with assistance from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion, Quezon PNP, and Tagkawayan PNP, facilitated the surrender of alias Jackie, a resident of Barangay Sto. Tomas and a former platoon leader and Giyang Pampulitika of Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee's Platoon Oder.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong lauded the wise decision of alias Jackie to abandon armed struggle and heed the government's call for peace. He also urged the remaining members and supporters of the CPP-NPA-NDF to return to folds of the law and avail the government benefits to help them rebuild their lives with their families.
Maj. Gen. Capulong added that 2ID will continue to support the peace efforts of the LGUs and various ELCAC Task Forces in Quezon to help our communities here in Southern Tagalog to achieve genuine peace and progress.
