NPA leader yields to government forces in Batangas

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A New People's Army leader surrendered to the government in Nasugbu, Batangas on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Troops of the 59th Infantry "Protector" Battalion and Nasugbu PNP at Sitio Panagsagan in Barangay Bulihan facilitated the surrender of alias Benjie, the former vice platoon leader of Eduardo Dagle Command from the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee. Alias Benjie also brought with him a carbine, 3 magazines, and 15 live ammunition.

In a statement, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong lauded the wise decision of alias Benjie to abandon armed struggle and embrace genuine peace in the folds of the law.

He added that this is proof that the government's sincerity in pursuing peace talks and providing opportunities for former rebels to return to the fold of the law through the various Task Forces to the Local Communist Armed Conflict is bearing fruit.
