CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A New People's Army officer and one member with firearm yielded to the government forces in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
Troops of the 68th Infantry "Kaagapay" Battalion facilitated the surrender of alias Danay, a supply officer of the NPA's Main Regional Guerilla Unit and vice squad leader of Platun Serna from the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee's KLG MAV and a resident of Barangay Manoot in the municipality of Rizal and alias Hardan, a resident of Barangay Naibuan in San Jose. Alias Hardan also yielded a homemade shotgun.
"We remain committed to pursuing our peace efforts together with our partner stakeholders to end insurgency in Occidental Mindoro. We are urging the remaining NPA rebels to follow their former comrades and lay down their arms because our government is ready to provide them with the necessary assistance to start anew and rebuild their lives," 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
