NPA rebels flee during clash with soldiers in Quezon

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – Troops from the 80th Infantry “Steadfast” Battalion clashed against the New People’s Army in General Nakar, Quezon, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

While conducting focused military operation, troops from the 80IB encountered with an approximate 20 NPA rebels at Brgy. Lower Lumutan, General Nakar, Quezon. The said personalities are part of KLG NARCISO, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4A led by Janice Javier alias Yayo and Jordan Mopon alias Boyong, platoon leader of Platoon 1 SDG of KLG NARCISO. A 30-minute firefight resulted to the withdrawal of enemies with undetermined number of casualties as bloodstains were found in the encounter site. One soldier was wounded on his left thigh after the encounter and recovered one rifle grenade, one magazine, one bandolier and five blasting caps for bomb left by the fleeing NPA members.

“This recent encounter between our troops against the NPAs demonstrate our commitment to uphold peace and order in Southern Tagalog. We will continue to pursue these rebel groups to ensure the safety and security of our communities. With this, we urge the remaining rebels to surrender and embrace the government’s peace programs.”, 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. General Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
