CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The Quezon government declared the municipalities of General Nakar and Infanta insurgency-free following the ceremonial signing of documents on Monday, February 27, 2023.
The ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, which declares General Nakar and Infanta as municipalities with Stable Internal Peace and Security, was held at the General Nakar Municipal Hall and Infanta Municipal Covered Court, respectively.
General Nakar Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict Chairman Hon. Mayor Eliseo R. Ruzol Sr and Infanta MTF-ELCAC Chairman Hon. Mayor Filipina Grace R. America spearheaded the said ceremonies which were attended by 202nd Infantry "Unifier" Brigade, 1st Infantry "Always First" Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Danilo V. Escandor, Southern Luzon Area Police Command Commander Police Lt. Gen.
Rhoderick C. Armamento, Quezon Provincial Administrator Hon. Manuel Butardo, who represented Quezon Governor Hon. Helen Tan, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 4A Assistant Regional Director Estrelita C. Macabagdal, Quezon National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Director Dir. Angelo Salidao, and the barangay chairpersons and Sangguniang Kabataan presidents of both municipalities.
The programs included signing the Pledge of Commitment and the redeclaration of the CPP-NPA-NDF as Persona Non-Grata in General Nakar and Infanta. Earlier this year, the municipalities of Alabat, Unisan, Gumaca, San Narciso, Perez, and Quezon were declared insurgency-free.
"These milestones are a testament to the effectiveness of the continuous and focused localized peace engagement efforts with our key stakeholders and security partners in the area. We will continue to relentlessly work to sustain our gains and extend our peace efforts to other areas still affected by insurgency," 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
