Quezon government welcomes surrender of 4 Militias, withdrawal of support of 2 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The government of Quezon welcomed another breakthrough in its peace efforts following the voluntary surrender of four Milisyang Bayan members and the withdrawal of support of two CPP-NPA-NDF supporters on Friday, November 10, 2023.
The Tagkawayan Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, with assistance from the 85th Infantry “Sandiwa” Battalion, Quezon PNP, and Tagkawayan PNP, facilitated the surrender of two MBs from Barangay Banban and Barangay Mapulot in Tagkawayan and another in Barangay Butanguiad in San Francisco, as well as the withdrawal of support of two communist group supporters from Barangay Mapulot.
The said personalities voluntarily executed sworn statements withdrawing their support and condemning the communist group.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said that the recent success serves as a testament to the effectiveness of collaborative initiatives of the Local Government Units, the key stakeholders, the security sector, and the communities to achieve genuine peace and security in Quezon.
