Recovery begins in Antipolo City through healing, reconciliation initiative
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Residents of Antipolo City in Rizal are finally on the path to recovery following a Healing and Reconciliation Program organized by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity together with the Municipal Government of Antipolo, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division through the 202nd Infantry “Unifier” Brigade and the 80th Infantry “Steadfast” Battalion at Barangay San Jose on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
The said program, which was graced by 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong, aimed to directly confront and dismantle the Communist Terrorists Group’s propaganda by addressing the issues being exploited by the latter, to foster reconciliation and healing within the affected families who suffered from past misdeeds of soldiers and rebels alike, and to provide fundamental services that build and nurture harmonious relationships and community resilience.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Municipal Government of Antipolo for their partnership and unwavering support in organizing the event, emphasizing the importance of unity and community collaboration in combating the threats posed by insurgency and terrorism.
Maj. Gen. Capulong explained that programs like this are crucial not only in addressing the immediate needs of affected communities but also in building long-term resilience and fostering genuine peace and sustainable development.
Residents benefitted from the Healing and Reconciliation Program which included free government services, medical, optical, and dental check-ups, circumcision, and haircut.
