Rizal government welcomes surrender of 4 Militias, withdrawal of support of 3 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The government welcomed the surrender of four Milisyang Bayan members and the withdrawal of support of three CPP-NPA-NDF supporters during a ceremony held in Rodriguez, Rizal on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
Through a local peace engagement held at Sitio Wawa, the Rodriquez LGU and San Rafael Barangay Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, with assistance from the 80th Infantry “Steadfast” Battalion, Rizal PNP and Rodriguez PNP, facilitated the surrender of 4 MBs and 3 CPP-NPA-NDF mass base supporters who are also residents of the said barangay.
Among the highlights of the said ceremony were the signing of the pledge of commitment of the said personalities and the burning of CPP-NPA-NDF flags. A total of 145 residents also pledged their allegiance to the government and condemned the communist terrorist group.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong lauded the wise decision of those who heeded the government’s call for peace. He also thanked the community members, the LGUs, key stakeholders, and the security sector, for their continued cooperation and support, adding that with this development, the province of Rizal is another step closer to achieving genuine peace and progress.
