Soldiers capture war materiel in Camarines Norte encounter
Troops of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division seized items following an encounter between the government forces and the New People’s Army in Labo, Camarines Norte.
Troops of the 85th Infantry “Sandiwa” Battalion were conducting combat operations at Brgy. Bayabas when they encountered around 10 armed personalities, resulting in a 15-minute firefight. This led to the capture of an anti-personnel mine, four backpacks, a sack of personal belongings, and a solar panel.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong emphasized the significance of the captured war materiel, which included one anti-personnel mine that could have inflicted harm on innocent civilians and assured the public of the military’s unwavering dedication to preserving peace and order in the pursuit of a safer and more secure environment in Southern Tagalog.
