Soldiers recover war materiel in Oriental Mindoro
Soldiers of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division recovered buried war materiel including two anti-vehicle mines in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
Troops of the 4th Infantry “Scorpion” Battalion were conducting focused military operations at Sitio Malaglag in Barangay Lisap when they discovered war materiel that were seemingly hastily buried by the communist terrorists after the capture of three members of the Main Regional Guerilla Unit of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee. Among the items recovered were two anti-vehicle mines, two magazines, and one staple wire tacker gun.
In a statement, 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong emphasized the importance of such discoveries in thwarting potential threats and ensuring the safety of the local communities. He also acknowledged the seamless coordination among the security sector, the Local Government Units, and the communities and expressed appreciation for their dedication to help win the peace and development in Oriental Mindoro.
