Teresa becomes 3rd ‘insurgency-free’ municipality in Rizal

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Teresa has become the third municipality in Rizal to be declared insurgency-free following the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and the declaration of Stabile Internal Peace and Security held at the Ynares Gymnasium in the said municipality on Friday, June 9, 2023.

The ceremony was facilitated by the Teresa Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, led by Municipal Mayor Hon. Rodeo N. Dela Cruz. Among those who attended the event were 202nd Infantry “Unifier” Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Cerilo C. Balaoro Jr. who represented 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong, 80th Infantry “Steadfast” Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Erwin Y. Comendador, Teresa Vice Mayor Hon. Freddie F. Bonifacio, Rizal 2nd District Board Member Hon. Ricardo S. Bernardos who represented Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares, and MLGOO Teresa Mr. Jeffrey R. Gamban who represented Department of Interior and Local Government-Rizal Provincial Director Dir. Allan B. Benitez.

Previously, the municipalities of Baras and Tanay have been declared areas with Stable Internal Peace and Security last May 8 and May 29, respectively.

During the event, a Pledge of Commitment was signed, emphasizing the municipality's resolute stance against armed rebellion. Additionally, the declaration of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) as Persona Non-Grata in Teresa further solidified the local government's determination to eradicate insurgency.

“The unwavering dedication and collaborative efforts of our partners from the security sector and key stakeholders have propelled us forward on this brighter path for our community. This continuous development in the Rizal province serves as proof of our collective resolve and strengthens our determination to ensure that insurgency finds no place in Southern Tagalog,” 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
