Tip leads to Army-PNP foiling NPA bomb plot in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A tip led to the troops of the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police foiling bomb plans of the New People’s Army (NPA) following the recovery of antipersonnel mines in Calauag, Quezon on Monday, July 17, 2023.
Acting on information from concerned citizens regarding buried anti-personnel mines, the 85th Infantry “Sandiwa” Battalion and the Calauag PNP have unearthed five anti-personnel mines believed to be from Platun Reymark of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong commended the bravery and cooperation of the members of the community which led to this development. He also reiterated their continuous commitment to working with their partner agencies and valued stakeholders to ensure the communities will be more resilient against the Communist Terrorist Groups.
