1 Militia, 1 SPL yields, 2 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters withdraw support in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – A Milisyang Bayan member and a Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad member have surrendered while two CPP-NPA-NDF supporters have withdrawn their support to the CPP-NPA-NDF in the municipalities of San Francisco and Catanauan, Quezon on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
The Municipal Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict of Catanauan and San Francisco, with assistance from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion, Quezon PNP, and Catanauan PNP, facilitated the surrender and withdrawal of support of a Milisyang Bayan member from Barangay Sto. Niño in San Francisco, as well as one SPL member together with two CPP-NPA-NDF supporters from Catanauan's Barangay San Jose (Anyao). All four personalities have signed sworn statements renouncing their support for the CPP-NPA-NDF, condemning the communist terrorist group, and pledging their allegiance to the government.
In a statement, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said the continuous rebel surrenders and withdrawals of support from the CPP-NPA-NDF manifests the growing trust of our kababayans in the government. He added 2ID remains committed to working with all levels of government, key stakeholders, and other security partners to achieve lasting peace and development in the Southern Tagalog region.
