2ID welcomes Maglilingkod heroes in CamNor

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The Army's 16th Infantry “Maglilingkod” Battalion (16IB) was warmly welcomed home by the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division (2ID) after its deployment in Mindanao during a Heroes’ Welcome ceremony in Labo, Camarines Norte, Tuesday, June 25.

This momentous event at Camp Busig-on marks the battalion's return to Luzon, following its eight years of dedicated service under the operational control of the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division and 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, respectively.

It can be recalled that, the Maglilingkod Battalion was reassigned to Mindanao in 2016 to aid in the eradication of the communist terrorist group plaguing the island.

Throughout its deployment, the battalion operated in several key provinces including Surigao, Sulu, Davao del Norte, North Cotabato, and Bukidnon.

During his message, 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong expressed profound admiration and gratitude for the battalion’s unwavering dedication and sacrifice in promoting peace and security in Mindanao.

He expressed his confidence that the battalion will continue to make significant contributions in Luzon, particularly in the Bicol region.

The battalion’s proven resilience and experience are expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the 2ID further as it takes jurisdiction in the area of Camarines Norte and part of Camarines Sur, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding peace and stability in the region.
