3 communist terrorists slain, firearms recovered after a clash in Batangas

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Three communist terrorists were slain following an encounter with the soldiers of the Army's 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division (2ID) in Tuy, Batangas, Sunday, June 23.

While conducting security operations in Barangay Acle, troops from the 59th Infantry “Protector” Battalion (59IB) were fired upon by armed members of the communist terrorist group (CTG) operating in Southern Tagalog, resulting in a 10-minute firefight.

Shortly after, another firefight ensued, this time in a nearby barangay of Bolboc, after soldiers pursued the fleeing communist terrorists.

Two males and another female terrorist died during the encounters while the government recorded no casualty.

The soldiers also recovered an M16, one Uzi rifle, an R4 rifle, and an improvised hand grenade.

In a statement, 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the slain terrorists, explaining that while they do not rejoice in the death of their fellow Filipinos, soldiers have a duty to uphold in protecting the people and ensuring a peaceful environment for the communities.

He also reiterated the call for the remaining CTG members to surrender and avail themselves of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which offers various benefits, including financial assistance, livelihood programs, and psychological support to former rebels who choose to return to the folds of the law.

The latest clash is part of the ongoing intensified security operations against the terrorists in Southern Luzon, aiming to dismantle the remaining strongholds of the communist insurgents and restore lasting peace in the area.
